Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
I purchased an item from a business owner yesterday. I paid with a check. The item was not ready to be picked up, so I agreed to come back later that day and pick it up. When I arrived to pick up the item, the store had closed early. When I called the next morning to ask why, the owner told me that she was going to rip up my check, and that I needed to go elsewhere to purchase my item. Can she do that?

Yes, I don't see any legal consideration that would prohibit this owner from acting in this manner, but, needless to say, in terms of fostering customer relations, it's deplorable and inexcusable conduct on her part.
