resale of shoes
can i purchase shoes online from a shoe distributor and resell them for a profit in my store?

I can't imagine why not. There must be more to your question than this. What are you concerned about, exactly?
The only concerns raised by your question, with the very few details offered, would be if the on-line distributor selling you the shoes had some kind of restrictions, by contract, with you. I suppose it is possible that they could stop selling to you if it violated some rule of THEIRS. Although I can't see why they would want to lose sales. (But, for example, companies that depend on personal selling like Quixtar require personal contact and discourage sales in stores. However, that is THEIR rule within their own company, and is NOT a law that you have to follow outside of their company. They could stop selling to you. But I don't know of a law that would stop you from selling products in your store that you have purchasd. Simply check very carefully any contract that you sign (even on the website) to see what it says.
Naturally, this assumes that your store is otherwise operating properly, but I would expect that it is.
