Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
Hello,
I'm looking into starting a PLUMBING business, but at my present job we are told that we are not allowed to. The reason is that my employer say the he can be liable if anything was to happen, but I will be getting all licenses ,and insurance that are needed. It will be a handled as a legit business, just can't afford to leave my job. My quesition is how can I get around having a business without losing my job, or can I just put the business into wifes,or parents name. ( I have 19yrs in trade, with my Masters in Plumbing, and HVAC )

Unless you're protected in your current job by a contract or collective bargaining
type of agreement that would protect you from dismissal for violating your
employer's strictures on outside employment, putting the proposed business in your wife's name or the names of relatives would be unlikely to save you from being terminated if the employer were to find out about it (in my opinion).
