Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
Virginia Business License or LLC
I am starting a clothing company that is going to be strictly online sales only. I live in the city of Lynchburg in Virginia and am trying to figure out if I could just get a business license or if I need to go the route of LLC. I also need to open a bank account and was told I can't open a business bank account unless I had a tax ID number that an LLC would give me. The business is not going to be making more than $10,000 net the first couple of years. What would you suggest I do?

Re: Virginia Business License or LLC
You will need a business license regardless of the form your business takes. A business could take the form of a sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, or C corp. depending upon your desires and circumstances. I would advise consulting an attorney directly to review your business and what would best suit your operation. Also, a tax id. no. can be obtained without LLC status.
