Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

I had work done by a contracter in 2006. In November I told them I was done with their services and asked for a final bill. I got one in December 06 and paid it. In July of 2007 one of the subs the contract hired sent a bill for work done over a year prior. He said poor health delayed him a year to send out the bill. Am I resposible to pay it? in VA

Any attorney will say it depends on what your contract(s) provided for. Were you responsible for paying the subs, or was the main contractor responsible? A review of these documents in needed to answer your question. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice.

Attorney Kevin Murphy, apparently, a California practitioner, presents

no evidence that he is currently licensed to practice law in

the Commonwealth of Virginia. (The question presented

involves only issues of Virginia state law, including, possibly the

statutes referenced under Title 43 of the Virginia Code having to do with

mechanics' liens.)
