Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
I am attempting to retain an attorney to file a lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Virginia for the 15 years my criminal record incorrectly stated I was a felon (and of course the repercussions that come along with that) only to have the restoration of rights process this year halted, a letter sent that I was never convicted of a felony, and told my record would be updated to reflect the same. I attempted previously to have my record corrected over the years only to be told the records were archived or they did not even have any records. I sent my information to the ACLU who in turn referred me to the Virginia State Bar only to be told today that I will probably not find an attorney in Virginia to take this case against Virginia.

You seem to be jumping somewhat ahead of matters, i.e., has in fact your
criminal history now been "updated" by the Virginia Criminal Records Exchange
in Richmond in confirmation of what you been told by someone in a letter (presumably from the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office) who may not necessarily have his or her facts correct?
