Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

I am apart of an off campus sorority Alpha Beta Psi at Longwood University. They are trying to make it so that we will get in trouble for being apart of our organization. We don't haze, or do anything that violates any rule that our university has. Can they tell us what we can and can't do outside of school? Would they be violating any of our rights? And is there anything that we can do about it?
