Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
Can my child be prohibited from participating in a University sponsored soccer camp due to our family's lack of health insurance? The registration form (Attached) only asks that I sign that he is in good health (he is), has my permission to participate (he does), authorizes them to seek medical services if needed (they can) and that I am responsible for all costs said medical services may incur (which I agree to). However, they told me that he cannot play due to the increased liability on their part.
Is this a form of discrimination if I am willing to accept all responsibility and sign the waiver?

Discrimination, you ask? No, certainly not the kind for which
you might sue and recover damages.
This university (in my opinion) is within its rights to determine and enforce the conditions which all participants are required to meet in order to compete, one of which is apparently the requirement that each participating child has appropriate health insurance coverage.
