Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
I was a daycare provider. I had parents sign contracts stating they would give a deposit $100 to hold a space for the following year. Due to cirumstances beyond my control the daycare did not reopen. The contract clearly states, deposit is non-refundable. Can I be sued for the deposit?

Yes, I believe that you could not only be sued but successfully
so since those who paid the $100 to hold a place in
your daycare center apparently never got the opportunity to
have the benefit of their bargain through no fault of their own under the circumstance described.
And, furthermore, the fact that your daycare center did not reopen due to circumstances beyond your control for the year in which these parents thought that they were reserving a space for their children would be irrelevant.to the above issue(in my opinion).
