Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

Defending a warrant in detinue

My boyfriend's ex moved out four months ago. She will not move her things out even though she says we will not let her have them. We have witnesses to the contrary. A deputy sheriff mediated one time and she didn't show and a game warden mediated another. She got some things off of the porch, but not everything. The magistrate says that we can put everything on the front porch, so we did. We then receive a warrant in detinue. We have never witheld her things and do not want them. She says that she is going to move back in one day! Ha! What do we need to do?

Re: Defending a warrant in detinue

Just show up in court on the day scheduled for the hearing on the warrant and explain things to the judge. Bring witnesses with you who can testify under oath in support of your position. If you have pictures of the items of personal property belonging to your boyfriend's obviously disaffected ex, bring those

along, too.
