Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

fired from job

We were fired at will from our job we worked realy hard at. We were asked to get everything straight on the jobsite. The contract was nonexistent in their eyes. We were not allowed to be honest with the homeowners of the properties involved. We were never compensated for the hours put in. Please help?!!!!!
