Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

My friend is incarsarated and his lawyer dismissed himself from his case. They contacted me friend and lawyer to come to court to collect a check the lawyer was refunding him. I came to court the lawyer did what he had to do in front of the judge. The lawyer had to be at another court so he said he would contact me the next day to get the check he did. I pick the check up and deposit it. A week later a seizer warrant was put on the account (frozen) and they took the money. I ask why and the say my friend was being investigated for money laundring and I shouldn't have took the check from him. The check was given to me by the lawyer and not him he's lock up and they new that. I don't understand why if they felt that way why they didn't take the money from the lawyer or better yet froze his account. They also could have let the judge know that they needed the money and let him intervene and I wouldn't been involved. I feel that they embarrass me infront of my friends and family also with the bank that I have been dealing with for year. This have really took a toll on me as well as my family. What can I do about this

Very little I would think, other than lodge a formal protest with whomever might be mainly responsible.
