garnishment

i live on ssi , my account was totally garnished of my ssi check 100%..i have called the company that garnished me , 23 times they said they made the account exempt? the thing now is i need this money for my medications or some deadly things will happen health wise , what can i do to get this back faster , i went from makeing 100,000.00 a yer to makeing 12000.a yr what can i do to keep those other people from getting me also woodbridge va 22191

Re: garnishment

SSI is suppose to be exempt from garnishment, but if your bank negligently permitted these SSI funds to be turned over to the creditor, the bank as well as the creditor may be liable. You should contact your bank immediately to see whether they can expedite the return of these funds which were improperly subjected to a creditor's garnishment.
