Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
I am having an issue, and I was wondering; is money given to someone while dating considered a gift, and or is the one person buying things for the other person considered a gift?
I was dating this one person, and we brought things for each other, as any given couple would.
When we broke up, she fell on hard times, and I gave her 1600 dollars as a friend with all intent to repay by the other party
Would that 1600 be considered a gift also?

If you gave the $1600 clearly communicating your intent to the donee that
it was to be repaid as a loan and therefore was not a gift, then it's a loan.
