Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

I have a judgement on my credit report that I feel is unfair. It has been paid but I did not live at the address at the time the summons was served. Virginia. I actually was living in HI at the time it was served. So I would like to vacate the judgement. Do I have to do this through the court system or can the actual creditor remove this without going to court?

If the creditor has been paid, it could request of the credit reporting

agencies that this adverse item be removed from your credit reports.

This action, however, would not remove the judicial record

of the judgment in the court system. However, rather than attempting

to vacate a judgment that has already been paid, you would seem better advised

to simply demand that the creditor prepare and file a release with the

appropriate court to have the record of this judgment removed.
