what is the law for how long it should take to receive a death certificate in va after a death. my grand mother past away on feb.4 2012 and it is now march 10 2012 ive placed many calls to the funeral home they say the hold up is the doctor .we have called the doctors office several times each time we get a different story. one week it was in the mail the next week the doctor had not signed it due to not being able to get in touch with the nursing home yet. yell wright staffed 24 houre a day 7 days a week and this week they said it is still laying on his desk. Im the execature of the estate and i cant do nothing with the bills,the money, stocks nothing with out the death certificate its been all most 6 weeks since my grand mothers passing and its all ready hard anuff to dill with emotionaly with the passing of a loved one with out this to put up with please help me ?????????? what to do?

Keep calling (or visiting) the sluggard. There is no law as far as I am aware
which compels the issuance of a death certificate within a certain timeframe.
