Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
medical records rights
iwas told today by a medical office that they could not transfer my original medical records to my primary family physician because there is a law against. I do not mind them keeping a copy, although I would like to know if they have the right to, but is there really law like this?

Re: medical records rights
You have been given bad information. Your medical records belong to you and you are the only one who can authorize their transfer to another. You may have to get stern with them. There is no such law as they suggest if you authorize the delivery of your records, in writing, to your primary physician.
