Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
Can a person that I met online sue me for fraud after giving me friendship gifts after finding out that I wasnt who I said I was? I used an alias when I met this person. We became vast friends and even met a few times. however I did not reveal my real identity because i did not know him well and was still hesitant. He gave me gifts (from his own free will) proabably worth $1,000-1500 worth and now he wants to sue me to get the money back plus more....he claims to have spent $20,000 on me. Perhaps this includes travel expenses.

Sound's like "giver's remorse", you might say, which does not include in its
panoply of remedies for recovery, the legal requirement that the donee (you in this case) return to this now remorseful giver, the gifts that apparently
you received from him (irrespective of his claims).
