Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia
Can police pull you over while boating to perform a safety check? In other words pull you over for no reason at all just to see if you have all required licenses, fire extinguisher, floatation devices... etc.? Assuming you have done nothing wrong or anything that would constitute probable cause for pulling you over. This is in Virginia

Yes, marine cops I believe are legally empowered to do these kind of random stops/checks for the items you've mentioned without the need for "probable cause" as is required for traffic stops.
