Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

Who's property is it?

My ex-boyfriend is taking me to court for a shed that he paid for when he moved in with me.He told me that my shed was not big enough and for me to sell it.I did and he put his custom built shed in it's place. He moved out about 6 months ago and now he wants his shed.It is on private property. Is it legally still his shed?

Re: Who's property is it?

No, it is not your ex-boyfriend's shed if he gave it to you as a gift to replace the shed which he told you to get rid of. However, if he did not give it to you as a gift and you were not involved in paying for this shed or have any other lawful claims upon it, then he probably retains sole ownership rights to the shed and, if so, it should be returned to him. (The fact that the shed is sitting on private property is irrelevant to the issue of ownership.)
