Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

Rent-to-own

I was misled by a car dealership that I was entering into a rent-to-own contract. When it came time to sign the contract, they presented me with a lease saying there's no such thing as a rent-to-own contract even though their name is rent-to-own.

The odometer on the car is really crazy and now they want to charge me all the over mileage fees.

They were to fix any repairs that needed to be repaired while I drove the vehicle for one month waiting on the tags to come in, and when they came in, that's when they turned the tables on me saying it's now a lease and I also am responsible for repairs and taxes.

They tried to force me to sign the lease and I wouldnt and now they are saying since I wont sign the lease, I owe them $50 per day.

Thank God I have it all on tape. They even gave me two different contracts with different prices on them when they, in error, were trying to cover up their mistakes and the price differences are crazy.

Re: Rent-to-own

Forget about the contracts; the relevant legal issue would appear to be what is the reasonable per diem value of the car which you had at your disposal for the one month period and whatever that figure is times the number of days in that particular month is what you should pay this dealership to be done with the matter.
