Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

Is this Slander???

I am a manager at a restaurant in Virginia. The other day after I closed the store, the opening manager the next day found a joint of marijuana in one of the booths. The police were called. The restaurant's supervisor and the other managers have not said anything to me about it. But, they are telling all my employee's that they think it was mine (although it's not). All my employee's are coming back and telling me. I want to know if talking about me to others and openly accusing me of illegal activity slander??? And if it is slander, it would be worth any amount of money to sue the company or the persons involved. I feel like they just are trying to find a reason to fire me.

First, if you feel they are trying to fire you, you're probably right. Second, no one is going to sue for defamation over the gossip that the joint might have been yours. The defense is that they were trying to investigate something that happened at their business. Forget about suing, and figure out whther you can salvage your job, or need to start looking for a new one.
