Presence at Grand Jury
I was arrested and told an indictment was coming also. I called the court to attend my Grand Jury Hearing. I was told I could not attend. I was subsequently indicted. I have since learned that I had a right to attend the grand jury hearing since I was arrested prior to. Is this true?

Re: Presence at Grand Jury
I know of no such right for a defendant charged
with a crime to attend grand jury proceedings involving this alleged crime. Such proceedings are generally considered secret and witnesses may be called to testify about matters under consideration.
It would make no sense to allow a person under consideration for indictment by a grand jury to attend these proceedings to hear what witnesses may have to say against him.
