Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia

I asked a plumbing company to come to my residence for an estimate of a leaky pipe. Instead of an estimate, they fixed the leak. I was not home at the time. Now they are sending me a bill, and charging me for a helper as well. I never signed anything or authorized any work to be done. They are threatening to send me to a collection agency, and constantly calling me at work. Now they are telling me that they don't give estimates for "small jobs." What are my rights?

Did they fix the pipe or not and, if so, did they charge a reasonable price?

If so, pay them the reasonable price(irrespective of whether that includes the helper) .

However, if the pipe was not properly or adequately fixed, then you could refuse to pay anything until the job is done properly and at a price that you've agreed to.

In the event that the job was adequately executed but at an apparently inflated price, then you might offer to pay what your research/investigation indicates to be a reasonable price for this kind of a job in the community area where you reside.
