Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia
Flooring Installation causes icemaker leak
We had an installer put laminate floor in our kitchen. He pulled our ice maker line too tightly when moving the fridge. Unknowingly to us this caused a leak that eventually caused our tiled hallway and bathroom to buckle fron water damage. We have tried to contact him but he will not return calls. At this point our insurance company has covered the damages minus our deductible but we feel it is his responsibility. His business is a llc. Do we have grounds to sue him for damages and if so how would we go about it? Thanks

Re: Flooring Installation causes icemaker leak
You could sue him in small claims court for the amount of your deductible. Anything you recovered above that amount, your insurance carrier would have a claim to by way of subrogation.
