General Contractor default

Am I libel if the contractor who is renovating my house defaults? Am I obligated to pay any othe subcontractors that he has failed to pay?

Under Virginia law, a subcontractor is entitled to perfect a lien against your property only up to the amount that you may still owe the general contractor at the time the subcontractor sends you(the owner)notice of his claim. (See Va. Code Sec. 43-7.A.)
