Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia
VA class c license
We hired a contractor to finish a part of home...he told us he was licensed and insured. After having numerous problems with this contractor we have found out that he is operating under a class c license (not under his name) and the job he is doing is 24,000.00. It looks like he not supposed to be doing anything over 7500.00. I've also found he's done this before under a different company name and has had that license revoked. Can I do anything??? Is this illegal? Can I tell him to leave the job???

Re: VA class c license
Yes, if what you claim is true, such violation(s)
should constitute a material breach of your agreement with him and be a basis for dismissing him from the job.
Furthermore, your information regarding this contractor should also be reported to the agency in Richmond responsible for issuing these licenses.
