Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
It's Still My Car, Right?
I have an ex-boyfriend who is an independant car dealer who sold me a car. He wanted to buy the car from me and started making payments to me, in cash. We split but he said he needed the car. Everything, title, tags, insurance, is solely in my name but he gave me a check recently and on the memo, he put the make of the car and ''ins'' on the check. I've been trying to make him sell the car but he says, ''No one is jumping up and down to buy cars right now.'' Does he have any claim to the car? Can he take it away from me?

Re: It's Still My Car, Right?
The vehicle legally belongs to you. Therefore, you should return the money you've paid him and then go and get the car. And, if for whatever reason you can not bring yourself to do it, then hire a repo man to do the job.
