Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
changed check amount
My wife wrote a check to a store and luckily she kept the receipt and had a duplicate copy of the check. When the check cleared the bank the amount had been changed. A 1 had been changed to a 4 by the clerk or someone else at the store. What legal action can I take? We called the store and they immediately offered to refund the amount. My wife explained that it was the principle of it that bothered her, because it was the store owner that had taken the check.

Re: changed check amount
Take the offer of refund and move on. (It's the Christmas season, after all.)
