Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
What if check doesn't clear for received service (translation)?
About 2 months ago, I contacted a translation service to have some documents translated. I gave them my credit card information. I received the translations and an invoice (with no time frame until when I have to make the payment). Apparently, the money didn't clear, and a couple of weeks later, they called to tell me they hadn't received a payment yet. They said, the credit card information must have been destroyed, so I sent a check with the payment about 2 weeks ago. The check still hasn't cleared and I was unable to reach their financial manager.
Do I still have to pay for the services? How can I prove that I sent a check? Will I have to send another check if they ask me to? How can I make sure, that they destroyed my credit card information?

Re: What if check doesn't clear for received service (translation)?
Your check, undoubtedly, will clear in due course.
And, no, you need not worry about sending another;
at least at this time.
If your credit card were improperly charged and the company refused to make an adjustment, you
could put the improper charge "into contest" by writing your card company and they would make the adjustment.
