Check refused by retailer
Can a retailer refuse to accept payment by check for items purchased without providing a reason to the consumer? The retailer does accept various forms of payment such as cash, credit cards and checks for merchandise purchased. Does the retailer have to provide the consumer with the reason for not accepting the check at the time the check is refused as payment? The amount of the check is less than $100.
