Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

I have a company putting racing stripes on my vehicle. I gave them a deposit of $100 and waited a week for the material to come in. I was told the job would take one day. I dropped my car off with them at 8 AM Monday morning and by 8:00 PM that same night, there were no where near being finished. I told them I would let them have it until noon the next day, they assured me it would be complete. I went to pick up my car at noon the next day and much to my surprise the job was only half done. Not to mention the stripes that were done were horribly done, off center, scratched, etc. I was told they would have to order more material and it would be another week before the material would come in. I dont want to wait nor do I have the confidence they can fix it as the work they have done so far is very bad. What are my legal rights to not pay them the balance due? I want to take my car elsewhere and have it fixed. I am willing to sacrifice my $100 deposit, but I dont want to pay them a dime more. Any information would be most helpful

You will need to demand the return of your vehicle for the reasons cited and that you are agreeing to forfeit only your deposit for the work that has been done.

However, if the company refuses to release the vehicle under those terms

and claims a right to further compensation, then you will be faced with the prospect of having to meet their demand in order to get the vehicle released and under those circumstances would need to sue them in civil court to recover this additional amount paid to get your vehicle released.
