Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Contract Issue

I signed a contract with a roofing and siding company in Virginia with an agreement that if they could find financing that was deferred for 12 months and payment to be in the 250.00 range that we could handle it. Well they came back with an approval for one loan for $287.00 a month with a 3 month deferrment for 180 mo and one for 550.00 a month for 12 month deferrment for 84 mos. I did not find this out until after the 3 day cancel period. I told the owner that I did not want to go through with the contract. He insist that he got me what I wanted and plans to proceed with the job. As a matter of fact he sent someone out to measure my house. Do I have to go through with this. At this point he has not ordered anything will I owe him anything. What should I do. I gave them a $100.00 deposit which they cashed already. I cannot afford to pay the $550. 00 per month.

Re: Contract Issue

From the facts stated, it does not sound like they complied with their end of the deal. Some of these companies routtinely rip people off as part of their busines. I would strongly recommend you consult with an attorney and have the attorney review the contract and do this as soon as possible. If you can not find someone local to you, my contact information is below.
