Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Defective printer and Hewlett Packard refuses to replace it
I received an HP all in one printer in December 2004 as a gift. In August 2005 it would no longer power up. I called hp and was told that was a hardware problem and it would need to be replaced. They stated the warrantee had expired and w/o a receipt I was unable to exchange it. I called the next day and spoke to a superviser who advised that as a customer service he would r/p it with an upgrade as that model is no longer in production. He said I could expect a replacement within 7-10 days via Fedex. After 2 weeks I called back and was told our conversation never took place eventhough, I had the supervisers name and the replacement model number and correct instructions. I made a complaint on the online website and have not gotten a response. What should my next step be? The product was only used for 8 months is there anything I can do or am I just stuck with it? Please help.
