Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Deposit on new car
A local car dealer didn't have the car I wanted in stock, and said he would try to get it from another dealer. For him to get it, he said I needed to put down a $500 deposit. It turns out the car wasn't avialable. He filled out a purchase order, but it didn't have a VIN#, only a general description of the car. I didn't sign the purchase order. Can I get my deposit back since the agreed upon car wasn't available? The dealer is now trying to locate a similar car from other dealers.

Re: Deposit on new car
Call the dealer and tell him that the deal is off and that you want your $500 deposit returned forthwith.
