Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
I enterd into a landspace contract on June 5th and after second thoughts called back within 72 hours to cancel. My business was solicited through the mail. They are now refusing to refund my 50% deposit saying I agreed to forfeit it (as stated in the contract) if I cancelled the contract. Should I hire an atttorney to get my $1900 back? I believe Virginia Law allows me up to 72 hours, or three business days to cancel a contract that is solicited in this manner.

Yes, you are correct regarding the Virginia Home Sales Solicitation Act and
the right to cancel a contract within 72 hours, but this law applies only to those
who were solicitated over the telephone or by a personal visit of a company repsentative while they were at home. And, as far as I am aware, it does not apply to solicitations through the mail.
