Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
A friend of mine went to a carshop put down $1000 down payment. He had the car for almost two weeks, when the sales man called him and said that the bank did not approve his loan. I thought you find out the same day you purchase the car he returned the car. But any way they told him he needs to give $1200 which he didn't have or they would call his job where he just started working.pretty much he was being threatened by this guy. So to make a long story short he gave them the additional $1200. The dealer got $2200 plus the car and he's got nothing. Is that legal? Thanks

Your friend would've been much better advised to call a lawyer first
before deciding to meet this predatory demand.
I would've told him to tell this predator salesman to "take a hike"
and refuse to pay him a dime.
Furthermore, I would recommend that your friend file suit in small
claims court for at least $2200 + the fair market value of his trade in
vehicle against this salesman and his "carshop".
