Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
lawsuit
A retailer refused to give me a full refund for items purchased within the past 15 days. I have a receipt. It shows what I paid. The store says any ''christmas'' items returned after Dec. 25 will be ''refunded'' at the price currently offered at the store. The items I bought were unused, and and never opened by me (tablecloths). I want to suit the store for ''stealing'' from me. They did have the policy posted, however it was confusing the way it was stated. I want to suit for punitive damages and legal fees. Do I have a chance of winning this case, or at least getting a settlement? It seems that it should be illegal to not return money to customers who have a receipt and are returning items withing 15 days. Please advise.

Re: lawsuit
I advise as follows: No, you have virtually no chance of winning your case premised on the theory that the store was "stealing" from you, nor of receiving an award of punitive damages, nor even of receiving some kind of settlement (in my opinion).
Perhaps, you'll be able to use those
tablecloths for Xmas 2008.
