Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Long story short, I took my car in to have the trunk fixed (which didn't close properly); they replaced handset and and internal connections--but it still does not close properly. Did I forfeit what I paid because I formally agreed to the repairs, paid for them and then took the car home even though the trunk was still not fixed?

No, you have not forfeited your right to have the car trunk properly repaired
merely by agreeing to the repairs, paying for them, and then taking the
vehicle home. You should begin vindicating this right by writing a
letter to the repair shop, putting them on notice as to the apparently
defective repair job and demanding that they take corrective
action to fix it. And, if they fail to do so, your next stop then should
probably be your local small claims court where you can sue them for
a filing fee of around $50.
