The auto repair shop is holding my convertible ransome for debts owed on my boyfriends vehicle Can they do this. My car is a firebird convertible and I had it in their for a check out. I owe $30 for the check out,. but they wont let me have it back unless my boyfriend pays his bill. They had a special agreement with him on a trade out on computer servicing in exhange for his auto repair but they have suddenly decided to undo the agreement leaving him owing about $500 in service bills. They know we are not married and I had no agreement with them on my boyfriends trade out. Help! I need to know if I go to the shop and try to pay my $30 bill can I demand my vehicle back. If they refuse( they already said they would ) what do I do next.?
