Misrepresentation
i recently took a phone call at work from a telemarketer unknowningly selling magazine subscriptions via giving me a survey. i recieved a statement charging me for seven five year subs. ($720) that I don't want. there was no phone numbers given but included was a note stating that they have a ''tape recorded verification of their offer''. it was misleading, how can i get out this ''non cancelling'' contract?

Under the Virginia Home Sales Solicitation Act found at Sec. 59.1-21.1 of the Code of Virginia, buyers of such subscriptions taken from their homes have up to three business days from the date of the sale to cancel these subscriptions for any reason. Even if more than three days have elapsed but the sale was induced through misleading misrepresentations on the part of the seller, you should still send formal written notice of cancellation for the reasons stated and you can cite the Virginia Home Sales Solicitation in support of your demand for cancellation.
