Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
My mother is 86 and has good and bad days. Somehow, she is on a list for phone solicitors. My favorite is the one from Publisher's Clearing House telling her she won five million and they keep calling her, again and again, hoping to catch her on a bad day. *Yes,she's on the Do Not Call list.
Pretending to be not very bright,I talked with him once, telling him she was not here, asking if I could take a number? All I could get was that he was calling from Ontario.
I called her land line provider,Publisher's Clearing House, and my state's corporation commission, who all thanked me for my submission, and then I heard nothing more.
Do the United States and Canada have some sort of treaty so I can stop or slow down these thieves? Or have they found a way to circumvent do not call and make investigations and potential prosecutions more trouble than they are worth?
Thank you

You can get on do not call lists and you might see an attorney about sending a cease and desist letter, etc.
