Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Question on the sale of items

Earlier today i purchased 4 cds on sony music store. I believe their was an error with the price (they were marked at ~$0.25 a piece. I completed the order and received a confirmation from the site. Later, the prices were marked back up to ~$40.00. I went on my email to check out the orders status and it came up canceled. Is this legal of them? To my understanding i purchased these albums for what they were listed at (at the time). Shouldn't my sale be honored? Anyway i can make sure it is? I kind of see it as dealing with a retail store, if something is marked incorrectly, you receive the marked price. However, i feel i was even passed this point because i confirmed purchasing it and was just waiting for it to be shipped. Thank you very much for your time!

Re: Question on the sale of items

Your numbers are confusing, i.e., $.25 vs. $40.00. It doesn't seem likely that merchandize advertised at twenty five cents per item would then shortly thereafter be jacked up to $40 per item. Nevertheless, if the online music store truly made an error of this proportion, they certainly would have had no obligation whatsoever to "honor" your order for items that were so erroneously underpriced.
