Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
right to receive account statements
my brother financed a used car through a dealership in jan 2006. since 9/06, we have been requesting a written statement of account without success. we filed a complaint with bbb. dealership response was ambiguous, but sounds like they will not provide statement until entire balance is paid and only if my brother personally picks it up from dealership. is it legal for dealership to withhold this information? is it legal to demand that my brother pick it up? my brother lives 200 miles away from dealership and is in ill health. do we have any legal recourse to get statement mailed to us? thank you.

Legal recourse, you ask, to force the dealership to comply with your requests?
No, I would think not.
