Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
I recently took my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo to the repair shop called free miles transmission for transmission repair. They did a free road, computer, and visual check of my transmission. They called me and informed me that it needed to be rebuilt. I asked how much will that cost me. They told me $950 for parts and labor. I agreed. They called me back several days later and told me after they dropped the transmission that it would cost me $2300 because the pump went bad. I told the owner(who was on the line and also the one who told me it would be $950) that I was told $950 and that was all I have for repair. I also told him that I didn't have the $2300. I was told they had financing and he would work with me. I replied, I came in and you told me $950 and if you would've quoted me $2300 I would've junked the vehicle. He replied, at least you know you have a rebuilt transmission and a good engine with this one. I replied again, I don't have 2300 and I felt as though you have put me in a big bind. I told the owner, you have to crunch some numbers because I didn't have that kind of money. He put me on hold and when he came back to the line he said $1650($700 more than the original price). I replied, I don't have that kind of money and he said I am trying to work with you to make you happy and I am losing money on this. He also stated, I will be making money if you tell me to stop here because he was in it $550 labor that was owed as of the moment.
