Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
I recently purchased a car from an auction resa0le dealer he signed the Title and had all the proper paperwork. When I went to the VA DMV I was told they could not issue a new title because the original owner used an old title when she traded the car in. The car dealer says he is working with the trade-in dealer to resolve the issue. What I want to know is how long should it take to get a replacement title from the trade-in dealer, so I can go title the car in my name and get permanent plates since I have already paid for the car?

That would appear to be an issue knowable only to this trade-in dealer
( if even he can estimate it).
