Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
I recently had repairs done to my motorcycle after an accident. After recieving my bike back from the dealership that did the repairs, I noticed the bikes engine cutting off on me wile I was riding.I have taken it back to the dealership 3 times in order to get the problem fixed. The issue is still aparent. I want to trade in the vehicle for a new bike but I would like to know if the dealership is required to give me fair market value for the bike in trade in and not try to cite mechanical problems in making me an offer below the value of the motorcycle.

No, unless you can prove some kind of culpability on the
part of the dealership for the bike's apparent substandard performance
since the repairs, I don't see how it would be legally obligated
to offer you FMV for the trade in which you've described (which, of course,
in no way means that you shouldn't ask for it as a way to settle the matter).
