Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
I reside in Virginia. In Dec 2008, I placed a telephone order for a piece of fitness equipment with a company in CA. Shortly after placing the telephone order, I learned of some deceptive pricing and advertising on this item by this company. I called the next business day and canceled the order. The company charged me a $632 cancellation fee which I have refused to pay and disputed. The company turned the "debt" over to a collection agency which is now threatening to file for a judgment against me for almost $1200 plus costs and fees. How do I stop this collection effort and have any and alll negative information removed from my credit records?

Call an attorney who does FDCPA claims. Tom Breeden in Manassas, Jason Krumbein in Richmond, or Dale Pittman in Petersburg, all great attorneys. Good luck.
