Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Sale

We bought furniture at a store but never took possession. The next day we changed our minds. It won't be delivered for several weeks. We want our money back, and the store does not want to give it back. What do we do?

Re: Sale

You need to consult an attorney who handles consumer law matters. I assume there is no contract provision which will give you an out. If paid by credit card, it may be you can argue for a chargeback with the card company if you were somehow misled.

Re: Sale

The legal issue then becomes what in your contract of purchase would allow you to cancel the sale and demand the return of your money? (And, no, there is no Virginia statutue of which I am aware that automatically affords the consumer in this situation of an in-store purchase a window of opportunity to cancel a sale and receive his or her money back.)

You may wish, however, to schedule a consultation with an attorney who handles consumer affairs type issues to examine any paperwork connected with this transaction and to review the relevant facts and who should then be able to advise you accordingly as to what remedy you may have (if any).
