Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

small claims court

I had my new mercedes windows tinted and found my back glass broken after I parked it inside of my garade about 3 hours later. I called for a policeman to come by and look at it. He told me that he could only assign a incident number to it bacause it wasn't vandalized. I went back to the tint company and was told they would pay for it, but they are giving me the run around. I decided to take him to small claim court but I need to know how to prepare for it. any suggestions?

Re: small claims court

You must gather evidence sufficient to convince the trier of fact(the judge)that the process of tinting your vehicle's windows was the proximate cause(legal)of the glass breaking some three hours later. Such evidence might include any admission initially made by the company as to their responsibility and agreement to pay to fix it as well as testimony or affidavits from car window glass experts as to how, exactly, the tinting of the windows may have contributed to the later cracking of the windows.
